Commander tutorials from first wishlist to the Closed Test.

Guides Hub

This hub is the training board for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics. The game is still heading toward a 2027 launch, so these pages teach the systems Ubisoft Paris already showed: four-operator squads, drone recon, destructible rooms, and a synchronized Breach that breaks the usual turn clock. If you only open one page after the trailer, start with getting started and then how to play.

Rainbow Six Tactics is not a live-service shooter and it is not a first-person campaign. You sit as Six — Paul Bishop — and send operators into global missions. That commander viewpoint changes what a “guide” even means. Instead of recoil patterns, you need briefing checklists, role coverage, and a plan for what happens when a wall comes down at the wrong time. The Breach guide exists because that one beat is the franchise’s new signature.

What these guides cover

  • First-hour commander flow: HQ, roster, briefing, deploy.
  • Turn structure after the Breach: cover, gadgets, line of sight, hit chances.
  • Squad building around the 15 Siege operators, including the nine already shown.
  • Headquarters training, injuries, and intel between missions.
  • Input expectations for keyboard, mouse, and controller.
  • Mission types: hostage rescue, bomb disposal, and high-value targets.

Use the operator roster when a guide names Ash, Sledge, Montagne, or Twitch. Use the early operator tier list only as a pre-launch reading of trailer footage, not as a ranked ladder after launch.

How to read a pre-launch wiki

Ubisoft Paris revealed the game at gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2026. Press briefings added numbers the trailer does not pause on: fifteen operators, squads of four, dozens of handcrafted maps (IGN cited 47), about ninety minutes of cutscenes, and a $49.99 price with no in-game store. Those figures can still move. Every guide on this hub flags what is confirmed, what is inferred from footage, and what remains unstated.

Confirmed from Ubisoft and platform coverage:

  • Single-player campaign on PC (Steam, Ubisoft Connect, Epic), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, plus Ubisoft+, GeForce Now, and Blacknut at launch.
  • You command from HQ rather than firing in first person.
  • Destructible walls create routes, sightlines, and new Breach entries.
  • Drones gather intel before you commit.
  • A Closed Test was announced on Steam shortly after the reveal.

Inferred from trailer and briefing footage, and still subject to change:

  • Chance-to-hit combat after the Breach, in the XCOM family.
  • Operator skill trees and gear unlocks through HQ departments.
  • Optional permadeath and Ironman (IGN): severely injured operators can sit out the rest of a campaign.
  • Arrests yield intel; a 100% non-lethal run is impossible (TechRadar / Potron).

If a mechanic is not in those lists, this wiki will not invent it. Check Updates when Ubisoft publishes the next developer blog.

  1. Getting started — wishlist, platforms, and the commander fantasy.
  2. How to play — plan, recon, Breach, engage.
  3. How to Breach — the simultaneous assault that defines the game.
  4. Squad building — four slots, fifteen operators, role coverage.
  5. HQ and training — what you do between deployments.
  6. Controls — what we know about inputs before a settings menu exists.
  7. Mission types — hostages, bombs, HVTs, and map variety.
  8. Permadeath and Ironman — optional empty chairs, any difficulty.
  9. Arrests and intel — cuff for briefings; Venice proves you cannot go 100% no-kill.

After the guides, jump to Paul Bishop / Six if you care about the story bridge between Vegas and Siege Year 10–11, or to the Closed Test briefing if you want hands-on time before 2027.

Tools that sit next to the guides

Guides explain the why. Tools help you act on it. The squad planner is a table-first way to sketch four-operator teams using the confirmed roster. The platforms and PC page collects storefronts, the incomplete Windows 11 system-requirement line, and cloud options. Official storefronts also live on the links hub.

Keep this hub bookmarked. Rainbow Six Tactics will add operators, maps, and HQ systems between now and launch. When that happens, these tutorials will grow from briefing notes into full walkthroughs without changing the URL structure you are using today.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Do I need Rainbow Six Siege to understand these guides?

No. Knowing Siege operators helps, but Tactics is a separate single-player tactics game. The roster explains gadgets in commander language.

Are the guides based on the full campaign?

Not yet. They are based on the gamescom 2026 reveal, press briefings, and the official trailer. Campaign walkthroughs will wait until review copies or launch.

Which guide should Closed Test players read first?

Read how to play and how to Breach, then pack a squad from the squad planner.
