Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics Rainbow Six Tactics Closed Test
A planned playtest, not a launch. Prepare the account, not a 15-operator bible.
On 27 August 2026, two days after Opening Night Live, Ubisoft posted a Steam community blog: the studio is planning a Closed Test because the team wants player feedback before 2027. Rainbow 6 socials, Ubisoft Japan, and Ubisoft Latinoamérica followed with a register-to-play-early call. Registration lives on the official site: rainbowsixtactics.com/closed-test. The Latam video below points at the same program (dev blog r6t_devblog_002). This page tracks that test. A form is not an invite. A form is not a date. When a start window or NDA lands, it will sit in the first paragraph.
What is confirmed
- A Closed Test is planned. Steam’s words were “Closed Test,” not “open beta,” not “weekend demo.”
- Ubisoft wants feedback on “current progress,” which usually means a slice, not the 47-map campaign.
- You should have an Ubisoft account ready, because Tactics is an Ubisoft Paris game with Connect as a PC storefront even if you wishlisted on Steam.
- Official posts now send you to the closed-test URL above. If that redirect moves, the links hub will carry the live one.
What is not confirmed
- Start date, duration, NDA, platform (PC only vs consoles), region locks, or hardware minimums beyond Steam’s current “Windows 11” line. See platforms.
- Whether progress, cosmetics, or unlocks transfer to launch. Assume no.
- Whether optional permadeath / Ironman appear in the slice. Those toggles are campaign features per IGN; a test may hide them. See permadeath and Ironman.
If a leaker posts a build number, it does not go on this page until Ubisoft or a participant under an allowed program says it.
How to prepare without a date
- Wishlist on Steam and Ubisoft Connect so you notice emails. Store links: links.
- Enable official mails from Ubisoft and check spam. Closed tests die in junk folders.
- Read how to play and how to Breach once, not fifteen times. The test will rewrite the numbers.
- Pick a default four from the squad planner. Sledge, Ash, Montagne, Doc is enough.
- Decide PC or console. If both are invited, pick one so your feedback is coherent.
- Bookmark controls and write your own bind list during the first session.
What to practice if you get in
Do not try to “main” the roster. Run one map three ways: loud Breach, delayed Breach, quiet entry. Log turns-to-intel, operators downed, and whether the objective died because of a wall. That notebook is worth more than a screenshot of Glaz. Bring failures to Ubisoft’s feedback form, not only highlights.
If the slice includes HQ, spend a session only on HQ and training decisions: sit an injured operator, take a worse four, see if the mission still works. That is the campaign. The trailer is the Breach.
After the test
This page will gain a dated recap: what the slice contained, what still looked placeholder, whether the nine operators were all playable, whether a tenth appeared in a menu. Guides will update in the same week. We will not pretend a test is a review. For the full 2027 picture, keep release window open.
If you are not invited, you have not missed the game. You missed a slice. Use the time on getting started and wait for the next official post in this hub.
