Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics Rainbow Six Tactics Operator Tier List
A pre-launch ranking of nine confirmed operators by campaign value.
This operator tier list is dated to the August 2026 reveal. It will be wrong in places. It is still useful if you treat S-tier as “hard to replace in a four” rather than “cool in the trailer.” Read roles first if the job names feel vague, and confirmed operators if you need kit reminders.
S — you feel a missing chair
Montagne. A shield in a turn-based interior is a mechanic, not a preference. He occupies the funnel so your Breach is not four people in a doorway. If permadeath or long injuries exist, losing him hurts every loud map.
Doc. Campaigns run on living operators. Doc is the only dedicated medical identity in the public nine. Finka is tempo; Doc is survival. Beginners who remove him to chase frags are writing a restart.
Twitch. Among the nine, she is the named intel specialist. Generic drones may exist for everyone, but a gadget-disable before the door blows is a job nobody else currently signs.
A — default starters
Ash. Best readable hard breach. She will be in every highlight and still deserves a high rank because walls are the game’s toy. Drops to B on hostage maps if you cannot aim the hole.
Sledge. Slightly slower Ash with more honest interior control. Ranked next to her on purpose. If skill trees let him become a cheaper campaign workhorse, he can swap places.
Glaz. A-tier on maps with lanes, B-tier if you never give him one. The trailer oversells him as a personality and undersells the support he needs. Pack a wall-maker or do not take him.
B — specialists who win specific briefs
Nøkk. Hostage insurance and a reminder that not every mission is a firework. Low floor if you force her onto a map that wants two hammers. High ceiling if mission types include stealth-leaning rescues.
Finka. Team-wide tempo is powerful and easy to waste. She is A if the Breach uses her burst, B if she is a worse Doc. Most players will misuse her once.
Zofia. Flexible, therefore hard to rank without gadget numbers. She sits in B as “bring her when you do not trust the brief.” She climbs if her Tactics kit keeps two distinct tools.
Unranked
Six operators. Zero footage. The roster holds the empty seats. Anyone publishing a 15-row list today is guessing.
How to use this without wrecking your squad
Do not take four S-tier names. Montagne, Doc, and Twitch already occupy three jobs. Adding Ash is a complete loud four. Adding Glaz instead of Ash is a complete precision four only if someone else opens a wall. That is squad building, which outranks this page.
If a Closed Test shows that everyone has a strong drone, Twitch drops. If revives are cheap, Doc drops. If walls are limited charges, Ash and Sledge climb. Bring those falsifiers to Updates, not to a screenshot of this table.
For templates that respect these ranks, continue to squad compositions and the squad planner. For the commander who is not on this list at all, see Paul Bishop.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Why is Montagne S-tier in a tactics game?
Because a portable wall spends a turn so your other three operators can exist. That value is higher in interiors than in Siege ranked.
Why isn't Glaz S-tier after the trailer shot?
The shot needs a lane. Without a breacher, he is a man looking at a wall. Rank the job, not the cinematic.
Will this list include win rates?
Not before a public build exists. Closed Test notes will be qualitative first.
Where are Smoke or Hibana?
Unconfirmed. They are not ranked. See the roster.
