Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics Rainbow Six Tactics Operator Roles
Stop ranking guns. Start ranking jobs.
Siege taught a generation of players to say “I main Jäger.” Tactics will punish that sentence. You do not main an operator across a 47-map campaign with injuries. You cover jobs. This page is the dictionary the operator tier list and squad comps use. If a word on those pages feels slippery, it is defined here.
Intel
Intel is information you paid for before you paid in blood. Drones, Twitch, and any gadget that reveals or disables belong here. Intel is the first turn of the mission even if the UI does not call it a turn. Skipping it to “just Breach” is how hostage maps end. See how to play.
Confirmed faces: Twitch, plus whoever is holding the generic drone. Nøkk is adjacent because she reduces how much information you owe the enemy.
Entry
Entry is architecture. Someone must make a hole that was not on the floor plan. Ash and Sledge are the public pair. Zofia sits here until her Tactics kit is listed. Entry is not the first kill. The first kill can be Glaz from outside. Entry is the reason Glaz has a lane.
If both entry operators are injured, your HQ has a problem that no amount of aim will fix.
Space
Space is the doorway after the hole. Montagne is the only public specialist. Without space, four operators share one fatal funnel and the Breach becomes a queue. Space can also mean “the person who holds the bomb site after the noise.” If a future operator is a trap or area-denial kit, they will live in this job too.
Closer / support
This job wears two hats because the nine-person list is small.
- Support closer: Doc, Finka. They close the mission by keeping the roster intact for the next one.
- Precision closer: Glaz. He closes the mission by ending the named target through a lane you created.
Hostage maps want the first hat. HVT maps want the second. Bomb maps want a bit of both, which is why the default four in squad building keeps a medic even when the trailer did not.
Jobs the trailer pretends are roles (and are not)
Fragger. A highlight. If your four is four fraggers, you have zero jobs. Main. A Siege habit. Campaigns rotate through injuries. Anchor in the Siege sense. Tactics maps are interiors you are attacking. Montagne is space, not a site you live on for three minutes of a clock you do not have — unless the bomb objective creates one. Then he is space plus closer.
How to assign jobs in 30 seconds
- Read the objective on mission types.
- Write intel / entry / space / closer in a notebook.
- Put one confirmed name on each line.
- If two names share a line, you skipped a line.
- Only then open the squad planner.
Six hidden operators will add names to these four jobs. They will not add a fifth job unless Ubisoft invents a mechanic the briefings never mentioned. Until that happens, every argument on this wiki should be about which job is empty, not about who looks cooler in the Breach cinematic.
For the person who assigns the jobs, read Paul Bishop / Six. For the living board of names, read the roster.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Are these official Ubisoft roles?
No. They are this wiki's translation of Siege kits into a four-slot tactics squad. Official class labels have not been published.
Can one operator cover two jobs?
Sometimes. Zofia may. You still need four jobs covered. Doubling is a luxury, not a plan.
Where does a drone operator sit if everyone can drone?
Intel still needs a specialist when gadgets must die before the Breach. That is Twitch's current seat.
Should I learn roles or operators first?
Roles, then two names per role. See getting started.
